Created through the combined efforts of Melandru, the Goddess of Nature and Earth, and the Forgotten, who were devout followers of the gods at the time, these beings came into existence at Melandru’s behest. With them, she sought to bring peace among the races of Tyria, particularly those living in the depths of the Unending Ocean near Orr.
With amphibious humanoid bodies crafted in the goddess’s image and empowered by the Forgotten’s advanced technologies, harnessing the mysterious energy of Orr, they became exceptional swimmers and formidable warriors, both in water and on land. Their purpose was to negotiate with and protect Orr from nearby aquatic races such as the Krait, Largos, Quaggan, and other unidentified threats.
Later, when Abaddon and his followers rebelled against the gods, the enraged Forgotten brought these creatures to aid in what some consider the greatest naval battle in human history. Though they played a key role in the conflict, after Abaddon responded to Lord Jadoth’s plea by magically sinking the Forgotten’s ships and transforming the Margonites into resilient demonic entities, most were wiped out.
After the Exodus of the Gods, the Exile of the Forgotten, and the Sinking of Orr, these creatures are believed to have become extinct before the events of Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2.
